Have to admit I'm a little disappointed there is no snow on the ground as I type this! Soon enough though it will come! Yay! :)
This
week is set to be delightful fun {actually, every week is!} as we work
on many projects and activities with Thanksgiving as our theme. One
project involves an element of writing {this months focus for
writers workshop is on writing a how-to} AND turning that writing into a
script for creating a how-to video. We will be filming the how-to
videos in small groups during our shortened week next week. The children
will be involved in all elements of the videoing process including
script writing, filming, editing, and animations. I am quite excited
about this project and am eager to see how it all turns out--in turn
then eager to share the final product with you!
We will continue with business as usual in our small reading workshop
groups this week. With regards to math, today in your child's mail
folder will be a letter from our lovely math facts team in addition to
the first set of flash cards to study. Your child will be given two
weeks to study as we will begin the supplemental program the week of
November 26. Our math facts day each week will be Thursdays. As you read
over the introduction letter please let me know if you have any
questions.
This Friday, November 16th will be our whole school
Mustang Motto Celebration. I encourage the children to wear their class
t-shirt OR Mann gear OR the school colors of navy blue and orange. We
will be playing a whole school game of Turkey Bingo! Sounds like so much
fun! Great way to celebrate all of our good choices! Ask your first
grader the Mustang Motto! {They will impress you!}
As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, please let me {and Ms. Rosa in
the office} know if your child will be out of school. As a reminder our
school schedule for the week of Thanksgiving is Monday, November 19th
and Tuesday, November 20th classes in session. District 97 schools
closed Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
As ALWAYS, please don't hesitate to email me or catch me on the black top if you have ANY questions or concerns!
