Reading
Sign up for the Oak Park Public Library summer reading program! Challenge yourself to read a variety of books, including fiction and informational text!
Writing/Handwriting
Keep a journal about your summer adventures! {Below is a stationary you can use!} Make sure to check your work for best guess spelling, capitals, punctuation, and spaces between words! Proper letter formation is key, letters always start at the top and sit on the line not float above it like a superhero! {Below there is also a Handwriting Without Tears practice pages page to print and and practice on!}
Math
Practice math facts fluency! You can check out XtraMath to create a free account that encourages practice of math facts for a quick 5-7 minutes each day. Work on your MobyMax account to work on a variety of math skills and concepts! Kahn Academy has wonderful skill concepts you can work on. This site is free and has pretests before each skill. TenMarks.com is a site that some parents have used over the summer in the past. This has a similar format to the MAP test that the children will take in the fall.
Skills Review
Coming home with your first grader is a skills review Summer Packet to work on! If your child completes it, they can return it to their first grade teacher when we are back to school in the fall for 30 Horseshoe Hoorays and a big hug!
