Oh thank heaven it's week 7...

We are now using MobyMax more regularly during our math stations and reading workshop. We have taken the math assessment to place us at our appropriate math skill level. We have also taken the language/grammar assessment to ensure we are working at our appropriate grammar skill level. These are always options to work on at home.I went ahead and changed our MobyMax username and passwords to a much easier to remember log-in. In your child's mail folder is the updated information.

Also. I'm writing to ask you a favor. For some reason we are all out of quart size ziplock bags. If you happen to go to the store, can you per chance purchase us a box? Would be so helpful as we use them often for centers, math stations, reading workshop...and lots! Thanks SO much in advance!

We continue to talk about rules and reasoning behind them in Social Studies. We will also work on map skills in Social Studies. Using our school, Google Earth, and compasses, we will be navigating our word practicing north, south, east, and west! A fun project we will do this week as a class is write directions from our class to important places in the school. We will go together on the adventure and document our way.

Math continues to be at our skill level at the first part of lesson, and then work together on the write math element. We play many games that reinforce skills and concepts. Some of us are having math pages come home as homework if it is not finished in a timely fashion in class. I will always email you a heads up so you can look for that if need be.

We are famous! Through Twitter I connected with the folks over at Roal Dahl Headquarters in England and shared our experiences from Roald Dahl Day. They used some of our pics in their blog post about the day! Check it out here! :D

Speaking of pictures, the picture order form envelope went home this week. If your first grader did not bring one home {sometimes the trip from mailboxes to mail folder to back pack is a long and arduous journey} please let me know and I'll get a replacement for you!

As a part of our staff development meeting this week, we read a fascinating article and had a rich discussion in small groups about it's contents. Check out the article here! Let me know what you think, I welcome a dialogue with you!
