Doin' fine in week 9!

This was a wonderful week of conferences! I was able to sit down with all of you, and many of your first graders, to discuss our learning and achievements thus far in first grade! We also had wonderful conversations about learning to praise and encourage effort as opposed to always having all the right answers. It his been a joy to talk with all of you! I have added some sites on my blog here that are specific to math fact practice as that was something we spoke to as something to continue practicing. There is also a math fact practice component to MobyMax.

I have been sharing with you my further studies as an educator and how I can best prepare the precious first graders for successes as they grow. This new piece I am sharing with you is an excellent resource at fully explaining fixed vs. growth mind set children {and adults!}. In summary, a fixed mind set student struggles with struggle and challenge. They look at success at getting all the right answers. Where as a growth mind set student looks at the struggle as part of the learning process and is more creative and flexible with their thinking.

I am striving in helping all students in room 108 to become more flexible with their thinking and to learn that challenge is learning!

Let me know what you think when you check out the resources here!
