We had a fantastic special event this morning! The kids in room 116 were treated to a visit from pro-biker and XGames gold medal winner
Matt Wilhelm! He made these incredible tricks look easy, but we learned it took lots of practice. He wow-ed the audience with his amazing tricks and energy but also had some fantastic things to say about bike safety. He did an outstanding example of why it is quicker (and safer) to walk your bike across the street as opposed to riding. He also reminded kids the most important piece of equipment (aside from the bike) is a helmet!
This athlete also reminded the kiddos that you should never give up. It took him years to learn some of the tricks he did for us!
P.S. Mr.Wilhelm even did a trick in which he jumped over Mr. Reynolds, Ms. Meierhoff, and myself while on his bike!
