April Skills Checklist...

April showers bring May flowers! April is one of my favorite months; baseball season begins, flowers begin to bloom, and the THUNDERSTORMS! So if you are looking for something to do with your first graders during a White Sox game rain delay, here are some suggestions...

  • solve addition facts to 12
  • identify attributes of shapes and polygons
  • identify symmetrical objects
  • identify fractions 1/2, 1/3, 1/4
  • make change using dollars, quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies
  • identify place value
  • add two digit numbers, using 100s chart
  • make largest and smallest numbers using 2 or 3 digits (example: 4, 5, 6-largest 654 & smallest 456)
  • order objects by weight from lighter to heavier
  • use capital letters and punctuation appropriately
  • correctly apply the weekly spelling words to writing
  • read a book then demonstrate a comprehension skill (visualize, ask questions, summarize)
  • make up a new game to play
  • practice Mustang Motto of being respectful, responsible and compassionate!
  • get outside and enjoy some Vitamin D from the warm sunshine
