Pajama drive!
Hi Mann Families!
Did you happen to notice that some of the teachers were wearing their pajamas to school? That was to kick off the All-School Pajama Drive, sponsored by the First Grade Classes!
We are having a Pajama Drive from Monday, November 27th until Friday December 8th. Please help us by bringing in new pajama sets or one-piece items for babies, children and adults! Scholastic Books will pair the pajamas with a new book and distribute them to readers in need. Please do not send in books, slippers or socks (unless they are included in the set!). Scholastic will match the pajamas with books.

Math-A-Thon!
Mann school is partaking in the Mathathon where students practice their math skills and raise money for children at St. Jude Children's Hospital. Depending on how much money they raise, they can also earn prizes. Here's how it works:
- Consent forms will be going home sometime this week with your child. These consent forms are required to participate. There is also an envelope attached to the consent form for you to keep and collect money in.
- Students are able to participate online HERE or by doing their math in printed funbooks. Please indicate on the consent form which one you want. If you choose the online funbook, you do not need anything else, you can just start HERE. If you choose a printed funbook, these will be ordered and sent home before winter break. These do not need to be returned. Please note, you can order a different grade level for your child should you wish.
- Students get sponsors to donate a flat amount or pledge a certain amount per math problem they complete. All checks are made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Students will have all of winter break to do this. Money will be turned in to Ms. Smith (in an envelope that was connected to the consent form or any envelope) January 26th.
- Money will due by Thursday, Jan. 26th. Prizes should come in March. Any student that participates and raises money (even if it's only 1 cent), will earn a horseshoe hooray! The class that raises the most money will earn a mega horseshoe each, even if they didn't participate!
- Our school has set the goal of $3000! We can do this! Thanks for participating in this worthy cause.
- Questions please reach out to Elyse Smith esmith@op97.org if you have any questions

Order of Things!
In room 108's hallway we are practicing putting on our winter gear in an efficient and independent manner. Here is how we practice putting on and taking off. You may want to have the same routine at home for consistency. I also encourage each child to have an extra pair of socks in their locker, just in case we get wet socks as we are getting unbundled after recess play. In addition, you may want your child to keep their gym shoes in their locker so they are always at hand for gym days. {Tuesdays and Thursdays}.
Getting ready to go out and play...
1. shoes off
2. snowpants on
3. boots on
4. jacket on, zip all by myself
5. hat, scarf, and gloves
Coming in from playing...
1. gloves, hat, scarf off
2. jacket off
3. boots off
4. snowpants off
5. shoes on {I can tie all by myself!}
6. boots go on the bottom of our locker {so we don't get everything wet} and hang up our coat and snowpants

Donations Needed!
The Horseshoe Hooray Store
Needs Donations
The PBIS team is once again organizing for a final, gigantic Horseshoe Hooray Store on Friday, June 2nd. We are looking for donations to help make the store great and allow students to redeem their earned Horseshoe Hoorays. During the month of May you can send any new or gently used "Summer Fun" items to the office such as: balls, games, books, crafts, Frisbees, kites, jump ropes, chalk, bubbles, glow sticks, etc. For example, if you visit stores like Michael's you will see $1 bubble wands which are a big hit. We appreciate your help!
